Watch Bellator 249: Cyborg vs. Blenco Live: One of the MMA’s fighters on Thursday night defended Chris Cyborg defending the women’s featherweight championship against Arlene Blenkov at the main event of Warrior 249 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncoasville, Conn.
Cyborg made her promotional debut at Bellator 238 in early 2020, beating Julia Bud by a fourth-round TKO to win the 145-pound title and becoming the first woman to win the belt at four major MMA companies. Now, at 35, she continues to cement her legacy as one of the greatest female fighters of all time.
But Blenkov stands in the way of the cyborg continuing that journey. The former professional boxer left Sweet Science in 2015 to focus his full attention on mixed martial arts.
This will be the second time Blenco has challenged Featherweight for gold since Bellator lost the decision to split with Bud 189 in December 2017. Blennikov bounced to repeal three wins in a row, two of which were gold by stoppage.
Warrior 249 is about cyborg, but Blenco presents a formidable challenge. She comes to compete and will be at Cyborg’s place throughout the competition. Is it enough to get out of a huge uproar?

The 35-year-old Cyborg will make her first defense for the crown when she faces former title challenger Arlene Blenkov (13-7) on Thursday at the main event of Warrior 249 from Moheganson in Unkasville, Connecticut.
Blenkov, 37, of Australia, has been the division’s top competitor for the past five years, 7-2. Bud lost only by close decision, including a majority decision in 2016 and a split-decision loss in their rematch for the title a year later.
Despite her hunger and confidence, the main problem for Blenkov is that every work she does as a stand-up striker with good hands – the cyborg does better. It would not be well suited for Blennikov if she did not bite and take cyborg’s power shots while finding a way to land meaningful counter shots on her own.
According to her credit, Blenco was never finished due to strikes in 28 US Pro MMA and boxing fights. However, none of those struggles came against the myth of life in cyborg. Select: Cyborg by TKO3
